Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority is committed to working with new and existing partners to create customized marketing opportunities. We are directing our efforts to support the local community through different events and projects that focus on Culture & Heritage, Environment, Education, sports and much more.

SCTDA is keen to sponsor and support a number of cultural activities and sporting events throughout the year. Last year 2013 was included with a number of sponsorships, the activities of the second “Government Communication Forum” and "Sharjah Heritage Days " and " Sharjah's Children's Reading Festival , " as well as sponsoring " Ramadan charity campaign” , and the seventh edition of" Khorfakkan Football Championship for the Blind" and " Sharjah 3rd International Open Athletics Meeting ".

Sharjah Tourism to Support International Open Athletics Meeting for Handicapped every year

Sharjah is sparing no effort to support the physically challenged through a number of associations and clubs that help and engage people with special needs in the UAE society. The Authority has committed to sponsor the “International Open Athletics Meeting for Handicapped” which is being hosted by Al Thiqa Club in Sharjah on annual bases and attracts more athletes and teams from different countries from all over the world.

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority has joined hands with the Directorate of Heritage of the Department of Culture and Information to sponsor the popular heritage festival every year in April, and promote the cultural identity and heritage of the emirate and the UAE.

SCTDA is keen on sponsoring this event annually as we believe in the importance of these events to promote a cultural and distinctive heritage of the Emirate. The Heritage Area in old Sharjah is the perfect place to be during the 18 days of the Sharjah Heritage Days where heritage and history come to life. Besides Sharjah Heritage Days, the SCTDA supports a number of events held in the emirate throughout the year that help and contribute to the promotion of Sharjah as a brand and as a complete family and heritage tourism destination like Sharjah Water festival and Sharjah Light festival.

SCTDA has put a lot of effort to support and encourage events and activities that serve the community and help showcase Sharjah’s tourism offering in accordance with the vision of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

SCTDA was proud to be associated with The Sharjah International Cycling Tour being held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. This very special event covered most cities within the Emirate and contributed to Sharjah’s position as a cultural hub and complete destination regionally and globally. The event is usually held in several phases and includes hundreds of cycling enthusiasts from teams representing the Middle East and the entire World.

Sharjah Tourism joins hands with Children’s Reading Festival

The culture of knowledge and reading is at the heart of Sharjah’s identity as the Capital of Arab and Islamic culture and civilization and it is important to inculcate this love of knowledge and books in our children early in their life.

As a strategic partner, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority joins hands and sponsor the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival as part of its commitment to social empowerment and causes in the emirate. More than 200 publishing houses from across the Middle East and around the world, featuring more than 20,000 titles besides thousands of audio-visual books, are taking part in the book fair devoted to children and young people.

Such events and festivals have helped Sharjah earn the acclaim as the Capital of Arab and Islamic culture. They make this beautiful emirate such an attractive and enchanting destination for international visitors.

Sharjah Tourism joins Ramadan charity campaign to help the needy once again

Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority has lauded the Sharjah Charity Association’s Ramadan charity drive that is not just limited to the holy month of Ramadan but is conducted throughout the year to support prominent humanitarian projects and charitable causes in the country and around the world, including helping needy students, orphans and poor families and schools, clinics and mosques.

The Authority is keen and proud to continue its support for the Sharjah Ramadan charity drive every year which crucially contributes and provides for the needs of the poor and the needy during the holy month.

The Ramadan charity is one of the most important humanitarian causes in the emirate and the cooperation between public and private sector institutions is crucial for a successful campaign supporting various humanitarian, social and charity causes in the emirate.

Held under the slogan, “Together for Better Support and Rehabilitation of the Handicapped,” SCTDA has committed to support the Academic Forum for Support and Rehabilitation of the Handicapped, organised by the Khorfakkan Club for the Handicapped. The forum hosted eminent academics and top experts from across the region and from around the world specialising in the welfare and rehabilitation of the special needs people. A number of workshops highlighting the latest academic and scientific advances targeting different disabilities were held as part of the forum.

This sponsorship is an expression of the SCTDA’s commitment to society. The Sharjah government is sparing no effort under the leadership of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah to support the physically challenged through a number of associations and clubs that help and engage the handicapped in the UAE society

Government Communication Forum


Initiative a boost to MICE tourism sector in the emirate

Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority Management & team has underscored the importance of events that present Sharjah as a perfect tourism destination and ideal venue for international conferences and exhibitions or MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) sector.

The forum is being attended by a galaxy of world figures, prominent Arab leaders and international media representatives coming together to discuss the mechanisms of the government communication strategies and development in the region.

Such forums and events reinforce the hospitality sector in the emirate, which has been experiencing a surge in Sharjah combined with a marked increase in the number of hotel guests during those times.

The Authority is keen to support and sponsor events like the Government Communication Forum to promote public dialogue and communication.

The Sharjah Government Communication Forum is a key step towards the development of Government Communication and crystallization platform making credible dialogue and exchange of views possible and discussing best practices in government communication in the Arab countries and the world. The initiative is aimed at evolving channels of communication between governments and the public and improving the performance of government officials and various government agencies.
